Be Still. No, Really. Be Still.

Psalm 46:10 reminds me to Be still and know that He is God. I’ve clung to this very with every fiber of my being the last two years. Moving from our home in Ocala to our temporary home in Ormond Beach was an act of obedience to God. His plan was only visible by a narrow stream of light, but we trusted in it and had faith in Him.

Tender moments of certainty have sprung from this season. We’ve seen the hand of God work in areas that I just cannot explain. Each little piece fell perfectly into place at just the right time. It’s been incredible.

Now again we are stepping (actually, we are be stilling, pardon me as I make up words) into obedience of His will. Only problem is that we don’t know yet what that is. We have faith that His plan is better than anything that we can come up with so we wait. We were so sure of His plan coming here and He did do all that that He promised he would, but he is awfully quiet right now. Silence is, as they say, deafening.

I’ve really got to get a handle on this “be still” thing. I am fatally flawed with an inability to be still. Okay, I might be exaggerating a bit here, but I really do stink at it. It’s not one of my strongest points. Sometimes I wonder if I’d better serve Him if I were tied down and not able to do what I think I should because ultimately I’m more of a let’s do this kind of girl! I like action, I like to plan, I like to do God’s plan NOW.

Am I alone in this? I’m hoping not.

So why am I rambling about it? In hopes that maybe my lack of ability to be still will stir something in both of us, you and me. We can be still together. God is moving in both our lives, even if we can’t yet see it.

We do have a few things we know though! Hardy little trinkets of His genius all on paper (or for the digital users, e-ink).

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

Proverbs 27:13-14

I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness
in the exuberant earth.
Stay with God!
Take heart. Don’t quit.
I’ll say it again:
Stay with God.

Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

There is so much hope in these words for me! They bring a peace that only He can(Philippians 4:7). So let’s be brave! Let’s step out or stand still together, holding hands and looking to our Almighty provider for the path we are so often determined to find ourselves. We can, but we have to let Him light the path.

    1. I thought maybe this would be a topic that would resonate with everyone. It’s a human thing. We’ll keep doing our best at it; learn and grow from it. Thanks for reading and replying!
